The misconception is that this is where regular surfers come to learn or progress. They don’t. Almost every surf camp in the Nazaré area teaches at mellower beaches a few coves away. The region works best as a base for travellers who want to watch the monster on a big day and surf calmer beaches the rest of the week.
If you’re catching unbroken waves but want cleaner lines, faster turns, and better positioning, the intermediate jump is where the most rewarding progress happens.
